Happy New Year! It's live from New York.......
Courtney has helped me create this site to keep in touch with you all... perhaps keep up with you all is better stated! Thanks Lizard! Well... here it goes for the first blog on the site. We started the season with our 2nd Annual Christmas Tree Trimming Party on the 21st of December. Many friends and family weathered the snow storm Sunday afternoon at 2pm and wassailed through the evening with us as we trimmed the tree with the theme of our favorite sports. We received many interesting and creative ornaments. We had a blast eating, drinking, and enjoying each others company. I had a craft table set up for the kiddies to create their own cookies, doorknob decorations, and cutout snowflakes. Interesting enough, many adult women were creating their snowflakes as well. Ashby spent the entire day/evening on the Wii, instructing the other children as to how to beat the system! On Christmas Eve, we went to the local, favorite restaurant, Hillside Manor and had our feast before going to the Hurley Reformed Dutch Church for the Candle Light Service conducted by our favorite Pastor Bob Gram, he was at Fair Street Reformed Dutch Church back in the day before Ashby (BFA). We enjoyed singing and praising the coming of Christ, Jesus. We went to Rev. Grams house afterwards for some wassailing and eggnog and then returned home to our tradition to open our one gift for the evening. Ross spent the early evening with Amelia's family (his girlfriend) celebrating Christmas and opening their gifts in Kerhonkson, New York. Then we retreated to our perspective beds for the evening, Amelia and Ross joined us for the midnight greetings. The Children went to sleep dreaming of sugarplums dancing and awoke to the sounds of the Hudson River Ice breaking! We opened stockings on the bed with all six of us! Then we had our traditional Brunch after opening gifts. We headed down to Mimi's for a delicious dinner (you can read about that on Courtney's blog) and then we went up to Leslie's for scrumptious desserts that I am sure Darien's cheesecake put pounds on us all! MMMMMGOOD :) just in case you don't know, that is a sideways smiley face according to CET. lol We had a girls day out with Mimi, Courtney, Darien and I (Leslie couldn't join us because, poor Hank was sick). We went to Panera Bread and to the movie The Curious Story of Benjamin Button! It was great!!!! Today isn't really the New Year as you know, however, I am getting an early start and wanted to wish you all a joyous Happy New Year in 2009! More to come in the future, hope it doesn't take until Spring Break for Courtney to assist me...lol
